Hi, How'dy, How are ya?

Welcome to "The Country Schoolmarm"! Get yourself a cup of coffee (I take mine strong with vanilla creamer), grab a seat, and chat a while! Isn't that what country friends do? Now, all we need is a porch...

Update from the Couch...

The fun part of teaching...germs!  I am a little under-the-weather with bronchitis.  I will be sharing what I have been up to later tonight or tomorrow.  Too much coughing and sleeping right now.  So my update for now is: I am on the couch, with lots of fluids and tissues, coughing, and watching the last episode of Star Trek: Voyager on Netflix (Yes, I am a nerd! Proud of it!).  I just wanted to let you know that I was still alive, that I was thinking of all of you, and will post soon!  Thank you for your prayers for my class and for me.  School is going well!  They are a fun class!  More to come!  Germs... Resistance is futile...

P.S. To my Jane Austen friends... Because I was so sick last night, I watched Pride and Prejudice 3 times back-to-back!  I highly recommend it.  Very soothing.  I had the volume on low and a hot towel on my head.  And, because I have watched it SO many times, I just played it in my head. :) How convenient!

Blessings!
Heather

    1. Cindi,
You are too sweet! Thank you for stopping by and for praying for me! It means so much! You are such a dear and compassionate soul!

Colds come with the territory. :) I think too, once you get a bad case of bronchitis, you are more susceptible to it. I got a bad case of it earlier this year! I hate getting bronchitis and laryngitis. That is usually when kids act up! ;)

Has Septoberfest started yet? I am looking forward to seeing pictures! Has it gotten cooler where you live? It is now in the 70's consistently here! Tonight, it is supposed to be 48 degrees! Ahhh! I need to get my porch plants in!

So, how have you been? I hope you have been well! I love the Fall tree at the top of your blog! It is gorgeous!!! I love that color!

      Have a wonderful weekend!
      Blessings, love, and hugs!

  2. Aww poor you! Have you not been eating your apples, Teacher? You know how the saying goes, 'An apple a day keeps the doctor away' - but must be the Germs haven't heard that yet...
Hope you get plenty of rest and now feel free to watch Sense and Sensibility and Persuasion and for good measure some E. Gaskell with Wives and Daughters! Sounds like a remedy to me! lol!
    God bless

    1. Christine,
You've been busy too! So many cute things! I thought for sure they would be snowmen! But, I like them just the same! I am sorry about the leaking from your bathroom, but I am glad it was not worse. Is your gum still doing better?

I ate some applesauce, does that count? I can't eat fresh apples (I know! So sad!)- they make my throat itchy and swell a bit... I lost my Sense and Sensibility DVD too- I think it may be on Netflix. I LOVE the recent BBC Masterpiece Theater mini-series version of it. Wives and Daughters AND North & South are on Netflix. I will need to be watching those tomorrow. Did you know that Elizabeth Gaskell died before finishing Wives and Daughters? I thought the ending to the movie was a bit weak, so I read the book. Well, it ended abruptly! I was so confused! So I "googled" it. That is where I found out! So sad! Her writing is beautiful! Filled with such insight! Now, Persuasion... I like the older version, not the newer one with that MI-5 guy. That one has a weird kiss at the end. Have you seen that one? It was good up until that part.

So, I definitely like your remedy! You should be a doctor! :)

I hope this finds you well, Diana! Stay away from that cordial!

Mrs. Gilbert Blythe (even though I broke a slate over his head and tortured him by just wanting to be friends until he almost DIED!)

    1. Hello, my dear Trace with an E,
You have been a busy gal! I have been reading your blog! I love the wool throw! Are you going to put pumpkins on it? Aww, Anne of Green Gables. I lost my DVD of the first one. I have had a hankering to watch that one. I can only find the Sequel, which I love, so it's all good. I have seen Sarah Plain and Tall, but it has been a while. The second grade reads the book each year. I need to watch it again to see you in that movie. Though, I don't think you are plain at all. And, well, I don't know if you are tall. I would love to hear you sing, though!

I have been watching Downton Abbey too. I find that soothing. The first season is on Netflix. I have the last 2 of the second season on my iTouch.

I did have some Chicken Soup! It was good! AND, coffee cake in a cup. But, I am not so hungry now. I am feeling a bit better. Thank you so much for your prayers!!!

Well, I am going to say good night for now!

      Blessings,love, and hugs!

  4. Hi Heather - I hope you get better and don't catch any more of those 'school germs' - they sure do get spread around don't they.

    1. Seriously! Honestly, I usually get a cold around October because of allergies. Allergies are so bad this year! Plus, which is a blessing, we have so many new students, they bring in new strains of germs. It's like being a first year teacher! My co-worker, Tim, has like 6 new ones. I teach them for English. We both got sick! But, I wouldn't change having new dear ones in our school for anything! God is good and faithful!

I hope you are well, Karen!!!

      Blessings,
      Heather
