The Revival in Lewis, Ireland
Background...Two elderly and disabled women were led by God
to earnestly pray that salvation would come to the people (especially
the young people) of their home. Joined, at last, by others, the
following is an account of God's conviction in the hearts of those who
were praying:
One night as they waited upon God a young deacon
rose and read part of the twenty-fourth Psalm: "Who shall ascend into
the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His holy place? He that hath
clean hands and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto
vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the
Lord." Turning to the others he said: "Brethren, it seems to me just so
much humbug to be waiting and praying as we are, if we ourselves are not
rightly related to God." Then lifting his hands toward heaven he cried:
"Oh God, are my hands clean? Is my heart pure?"
"There is no more vital endeavor to which we should be devoting ourselves than to prayer. I know that we need to be praying - "earnestly," as Spurgeon says, "concerning the souls of the ungodly; and when we are so, how abundantly God will bless us and how [this school] will prosper."- Alice Vache', Director of Windsor Christian Academy
I agree!
A sermon that may interest you is one by the associate pastor of my church (The link is below). I happened to listen to it this morning because we are a bit snowed in. Then, I saw the email with this link from Mrs. Vache'. I feel like there is a connection in my life, and it challenged me to rethink how I spend my time and mental energy.
So, I have decided to give up eBay for now and use that time to pray. I am going to let the items that are there finish their auction time and then not bother with it for a bit. I will still list my pin keeps because I love making them. But, I am going to use this time and energy I spend on eBay to focus more on God and not on money and things. I need to pray for the young people of today. I am so burdened by what I am seeing. I need to spend less time complaining and yacking about it and more time praying! Could you just imagine the kind of revival in Lewis with our young people today? All because two women prayed...
Matthew 19:14
"..But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
I would love your prayer in helping me to be consistent in this. I would also encourage us all to pray for revival in our young people.
