Hi, How'dy, How are ya?

Welcome to "The Country Schoolmarm"! Get yourself a cup of coffee (I take mine strong with vanilla creamer), grab a seat, and chat a while! Isn't that what country friends do? Now, all we need is a porch...

Monday Meditation

Philippians 4:6-7 "Do  not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

I struggle with anxiety and depression. A lot. Sometimes I wake up and it just feels tortuous to get out of bed and go to school. I worry about having to leave the house all Sunday afternoon.  I love my job. Very much. And there is nothing that triggers it. Nothing I can put my finger on. This frustrates the loved ones around me terribly. They so badly want to say something or do something to fix it.

This is the verse of the day on the Bible Gateway app. It was just the verse I needed. I thought I'd put it out there since there are a lot of bloggers out there struggling with different concerns in their lives. Our hope and meditation is realize His promise of "the peace which surpasses all understanding. " We don't have to understand it, we just have to ask for it. It is given to us, through the Holy Spirit, because our relationship with God has been restored through Jesus's death on the cross. How deep the Father's love for us!

"How Deep The Father's Love For Us"
By Stuart Townend

How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

Blessing and Love,
Heather

The Peace Lily

John 14:27
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."

This is a very special plant of mine.  It was given to my Aunt over ten years ago.  It was given to her by her coworkers because her breast cancer had returned, and it was not treatable this time.  She lost her battle with breast cancer, but went to be with God in eternal fellowship with Him, on December 14th, 2000.  Every year around Thanksgiving, it starts to bloom.  It's bloom fades around the beginning of December.  I think of this lily as a dewdrop of mercy.  It reminds me of the "peace that passes all understanding".

After her death, I know I didn't feel that peace.  I only felt sorrow and despair over the loss of my beloved aunt.  I can't imagine what the families are feeling in that small community in Connecticut.  My teacher's heart tries to put myself in their place, but I cannot fathom the composure and heartbreak of those teachers, the pained little hearts of those students, and the devastation of those parents. But God knows, feels, and comforts where humans fail.

May the peace of God that fails understanding be with all of you.  My love and prayers go out to the town of Newtown, Connecticut...
